Summertime

The girls are having a great summer and trying to keep cool by eating their weight in popsicles each day. I saw on another blog these cute HUGE chalkboards so the girls and I made a few for them to draw on with their chalk outside. They have really loved them and Ken likes to play school and pretend to teach me and Sophie.

Ken is thrilled to have lost her first tooth and the other front bottom one is getting pretty wiggly, she is working hard to get that one out too!
We use to have sand in our little pool but we dumped it out to use as a swimming pool, the girls still love to play in the sand and make all kinds of messes! As we've played outside we have found all kinds of wild animals...so far this summer we've seen foxes, bunnies, frogs, HUGE snakes, mice and the baby birds that have hatched in the nest above our door.
As if Sophie wasn't already mistaken for a boy enough I had the bright idea after grocery shopping the other day to just drop in the Walmart salon and get a trim for both of them. Sophie's haircut is killing me...every time I look at her I can't help but think of the little boy from Pollyanna. She also created a nice scab on her forehead from banging her head on the bottom of her crib when she wakes up. Needless to say she is looking a bit homeless these days, add a few popsicle stains to her clothes and face and you can pretty well imagine what she's looked like most of the summer.
We are excited to go out to Salida this weekend and visit our good friends Justin and Lacey and their darling little boys. Kennedy was talking about their little boy Holden and how much she missed him and she told me "mom I am so sad that Holden lives in the wild wild west." Salida is a beautiful small town right in the middle of the mountains. Then a week after that Mike and I are heading to Utah to drop of the kids and to go on a cruise with our good friends Shane and Jenna. We are going to the Eastern Caribbean...and we couldn't be more excited! We are so grateful for our wonderful families that are willing to watch our crazy little redheads, we know they are a handful and we are so appreciative.

Sounds like lots of fun...and lots of fun to come! I LOVE cruises, they are my absolute favorite vacations!
