I was watching the show "Jon and Kate plus 8" tonight with Kennedy and on this episode the family visited St. Jude's Hospital for kids with cancer. They took the kids shopping to buy toys for the sick children, wrapped the gifts and then delivered them to the hospital. Kennedy is fascinated with the show because "that woman had six babies in her tummy at one time." As I was trying to explain to her why some of the kids at the hospital didn't have hair I got all choked up and struggled to get the words out. I told Kennedy that she and I needed to find some kids to buy presents for this year who otherwise wouldn't get gifts. She responded "well mom, I don't know anyone that lives in a shelter but I do know someone that is poor and lives in Bethlehem." And then she announced the answer as if introducing Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show "It's Jesus!" I thought that was very sweet and funny.
I have always been incredibly thankful that my family has always had good health. Aside from the usual colds and flu bugs my kids are healthy and happy. After going through 3+ months of trying to wean off a medication that has made me pretty sick (throwing up, headaches and overall feeling awful) I am grateful for everyday that I do feel good. It is so frustrating to not be able to play with my kids, run or go to the gym regularly or just do the usual housework and errands that need to be done because I don't feel well. My heart goes out to those that live daily with sickness, aches, pains or those that are born with physical handicaps that don't allow them to do the many things that I often take for granted.
I have been complaining to my friends that I haven't really felt the Christmas spirit much this year because of not feeling well, the craziness of the season, having a husband that is in his residency and rarely home and being away from our extended family. I am thankful to have been reminded tonight of all the things that I do have to be thankful for and how truly blessed we really are. I really felt that spirit tonight and continue to as I watch my cute little Kennedy in her footie jammies watching a Christmas show on t.v. and as I put little Sophie to bed and she wrapped her warm little hand around my finger.
God Bless Us Everyone (sorry, I just couldn't help myself)

Are you guys coming to utah for Christmas? Andy was just saying he would like to see you, so let us know if you are.
My kids love that show. They call it the "kids" and are fascinated by it, which cracks me up. I'm just glad I can watch something with them that's not animated once in awhile.
I LOVE that show as well! Jessie calls it "the kid show"!
Thanks for your super nice comments on my blog!
