Christmas Festivities

Saturday afternoon Kennedy and I saw The Tale of Despereaux. I thought it was a sweet story and cute movie (made me want to read the book). It was maybe a bit slow for a three year old but she did stay awake and said she liked it. Usually Ken goes to movies with her Dad for daddy/daughter dates so it was fun to be able to take her. Tonight we had our very own (small) Voorhies Doughnut Party. Mikes family has been having an annual doughnut party for years and years. They invite hundreds of people, make homemade doughnuts and warm cider and have a huge open house. We only invited a few families to ours since we decided last minute to have one, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. The kids ran around, decorated and ate tons of doughnuts. The adults had a great time eating, drinking and laughing! We are sad we will be missing the big Voorhies bash but it was fun to have our own little party.

Kennedy was stirring the frosting, getting ready for the kids to come. She was so excited to wear her Pegasus jammies (I called them unicorn pajamas and was corrected) and to show everyone at the party. Sophie was tucked in bed and surprisingly slept through the kids playing VERY LOUDLY in the playroom next door.
Here is our little Sophie all tuckered out after a Christmas party we went to last weekend with Mike's co-workers. It was a lot of fun. I believe within the first 10 minutes of the party we were told several times that Kennedy has a very strong personality. Needless to say she was tired, grouchy and well, Kennedy.

Mike has been working the night shift this past week for his OB rotation and so at night it has just been me and the girls. It has been fun, once Sophie is asleep, to watch the countdown to Christmas shows that are on TV. Ken and I have played board games, danced, made treats, colored and painted together all while watching the shows. It has been nice to have some one on one time with her and I love watching the old and new Christmas shows. I even broke out Ken's American Girl doll last night while Mike and I were watching The Family Stone and tried on some of her little outfits. I am so excited for Ken to see her Christmas morning. I think Mike was a bit concerned seeing me play with a doll but he was quite impressed with the doll clothes that my mom made.
