More summer fun

I feel like this summer is going by so fast that we don't have time to fit in all that we want to do. I am getting a bit sad that my little girl will be first grader and will be in school all day long and so once she gets home and we do homework, dinner and family stuff she will have to go to bed. Needless to say I am trying to make the most of our time. So our first picture here is Mike after the race he ran with his co-workers and a good friend. They all did the tough mudder together and prior to the race Mike stopped off at the haircut station and got a mohawk...I am glad he choose this because the other option was a mullet. I am happy to report he has shaved his entire head now. Every time he got home Sophie would say "Daddy funny mohawk." He did a great job in the race and we are really proud of him.
Other things we have been doing are tie dying. The girls and I bought tank tops and nightshirts do dye. They turned out really cute and it was a fun project.

Kennedy and her friend Tyli have had some really fun play dates. This past week we had Tyli over and we filled up tons of water balloons and played with them and jumped with them on the tramp. The girls pretended they were bombs and they couldn't step on them as they jumped. I've never heard Ken laugh so hard.

This little doll got her haircut and I am in love with it. She is so hilarious. She has two princess dresses, one is a snow white one and the other is Cinderella. She has to wear one or the other each day. The Cinderella one is in pieces but she insists on wearing it...when I threw it away she pulled it out of the garbage in disgust. Although she looks homeless I also think it's adorable and I love the little funny things about each of my kids and how unique they are so I am trying not to squash that. So we ordered a new dress but until it arrives this child will literally wait in her pull up in front of the dryer until one of the dresses is clean. She asked about the dresses the entire time we were on vacation and the minute we got home she was happier than you could have imagined when she got to put that dress back on.
Other things we've been doing are:
-going to the rodeo and carnival in town
-making strawberry freezer jam
-making bruschetta with basil from our garden
-finishing another level of swim lessons (Ken is moving up, we are just glad Sophie is still alive. They had to have an extra life guard watch her lesson because she was insane)
-spending 4 hours a week at gymnastics with Kennedy
-ordered a kit to watch caterpillars turn into butterflies and one for ladybugs
-reading lots of books
-working on summer bridge workbooks each day with the girls
-planning the ward summer party (Mike and I are in charge)
-playing hide and seek and red light green light
