In my family there are many traditions that even as adults we still look forward to and the one that is most loved is our annual Easter Egg Hunt. My parents wrap hundreds of hersheys chocolate eggs in tinfoil and hide them all over the yard and then we race around as if we were 5 again and try to get the most eggs. Inside some of the eggs are hidden papers with prizes written on them, my mom still gives out the same prizes we were given when we were younger (silly putty, punch balls etc.) and the cash awards are also the same, no accounting for inflation I guess. We love that after all these years the hunt is always the same and that my brothers will still push over a grand kid or almost break a brother in laws finger in order to get an egg.
Sophie got to go first with our nephew Parker to get a head start before the big kids got released.
From left to right: Kristen, Hannah, Parker, Sophie Peter, Kennedy, Sydney, Tyler and Mckay. After the hunt we went inside to count eggs and get our prizes and then my parents gave out souvenirs from their trip to China. Each grand kid got a stuffed panda bear, a paper kite and a purse for the girls. The kids loved sitting around while grandma told about their trip and showed the other souvenirs they got.
