I have found a handful of blogs that I find inspiring and that have given me great ideas and encouragement as a mom. I have been trying to use some of the ideas I've gotten and they have been working well so far. The first blog is
71 toes. I think this mom is so inspiring and so positive. She has some great ideas and seem to go all day long with the various things she does for her kids. Her parents are writers and have some really great parenting books, but I'll get to that later. One of her ideas was to come up with a family motto. We used a lot of her same words for our family motto but we added the word 'laugh' since that is very important to both me and Mike. It is now hanging in our house and as our kids get older we will use it to help focus our family on the things we think are most important. I talked to Kennedy about it a little bit already. The biggest thing I like about this blog is her focus on her children and family and that she is a very devoted mom and that her parenting is planned and intentional. I am trying to do the same.
Shawni, the blog author, is also featured on
mormon.org
Her parents also have a blog called
Values Parenting. They have a lot of good ideas for everything from
FHE to traditions and a family economy. I like the idea they have of focusing on a value each month as a family. We have put a chalk board next to our kitchen table so that I can write the value and ideas on there and we can discuss them at dinner. Last month was focused on kindness and friendliness and we talked to Kennedy about using manners and playing what her friends want to play
ect. And even for kids like Sophie that are too young to understand the value it helps me to focus on it with my kids from day to day. We have also used them when organizing my
FHE lessons.
The last site is
The Power of Moms. The founder of this blog is
Shawni's sister and a friend of hers. A lot of moms contribute to the blog. It's fun to read their ideas and stories.
Check them out if you have time.
