Friends

I have always been blessed with wonderful friends. In elementary, middle school and high school I had amazing friends that kept me out of trouble and kept me laughing. I still keep in touch with most of them. In college I was so lucky to have great roommates that were so much fun and so easy to live with, I am still close with them too. As I have gotten married and moved around to various places Mike and I have been incredibly blessed to find people in our neighborhoods and wards that have made the transition easy. It always felt like we met people quickly and that we had known them all our lives. So now we find ourselves settled in a town, done with school and we have found, yet again, a wonderful group of friends. I miss my family terribly but it's nice to have friends around that have become family to us. I even have a friend living near me that I have known since middle school...and she really is family to me. This Sunday was Regional Conference for us and so Mike and I invited 4 families over for breakfast before (for some) and during (for others) conference. There were so many people we had to eat in shifts but we had yummy food and laughed all morning long. I love these people and their kids, it really feels like home here and I am so grateful for that. That night we had my old friend Erin over for dinner with her fam and it just ended such a good day for us.
After talking to my family using the iphone face time and seeing their faces and laughing with them I was unusually weepy and really missed them. I worry about them and think about them and wish we could be a part of everything going on back home but for now while we are away I am thankful that we are surrounded by the family we have created here.

I'm so glad that you have found such great friends along the way. The people you've met- are lucky to have you guys in their lives-- I admit I am a tad jealous! It's such a bitter sweet thing living away from family--I wish you could have the best of both worlds.
