The boy can speak but...
I have had such mixed emotions this week because of the inauguration of our new President. I didn't vote for Obama, though I was not thrilled with my other option either. I enjoyed watching the inauguration and cried many times this week (some were shed while running on the treadmill at the gym..oh so embarrassing). I was most moved by the fact that we now have an African American President. After teaching History for six years and thinking back to all our country has gone through and overcome to get to this point it is really quite remarkable. He is a wonderful speaker and I enjoyed all he had to say, especially speaking to the citizens of the country and all we can do to improve our current situation. I am a little sick of Oprah and her Obama worship...I can barely watch her show these days it is so over the top. I really do hope that he does all he says he will, I hope he is as great a man as he seems to be when in public and I hope that our country makes steady improvements in our economy, education and health care.

I am a fan of Obama and am one of the many Republicans that voted for him. Like you, it is hard to be a history teacher and not be moved by the significance of this event and the hope and inspiration that it has provided for the country. I can't tell you how great it has been to be teaching US History this year. (Although, it would always be better if you were teaching across the hall). I also hope that he is able to do all the he has preached, but if not, at least I feel like he has inspired many Americans to become more involved in their community and in the political arena.
i have the hope that obama will help us out, and i absolutely hate oprah!!!!
Amen sister! All we can do is pray that he really thinks of all of the country. I cried too on the treadmill.. but I was in the comfort of my own home. As for Oprah, watch how many times she looks at herself while on camera.. I don't think she really even cares about anything but herself...wolf in sheep clothing.
True that! I'm hoping and praying that he will step and up and do what he has been promising. We can only wait and see!
