Ralphie!

It has snowed soooo much here in the last few days. I feel like a caged rat, we have been stuck in the house because the city has pretty much shut down. Today the girls and I went outside and played while Mike shoveled a few driveways. I put Sophie in Ken's old snow stuff and it was huge, she could barely walk in it. She fell over in the living room and just looked up at me because she could not move one bit to get herself up. Kennedy and Sophie have been eating snow all day. Kennedy got two cups out of the kitchen and about every ten minutes she opened the sliding back door and filled them up so she and Sophie could eat snow together.

I'm in love

Because we are finishing up school in a few months and we will (hopefully) be buying a home in the next year or so I have become OBSESSED with looking at design websites. I ran across a site today that has literally made me as gitty as a school girl. My mom and I have always loved the design found in movies such as 'What Lies Beneath' and 'Somethings Gotta Give' also found in the amazing home of Ina Garten from the food networks 'Barefoot Contessa' (how sad it is that I watch her cooking show to drool over her kitchen and amazing home in the Hampton's). So I found this site where you can look at homes from movies, television and various celebrity homes.

Drama

In the library the other day Kennedy picked out a book and a little girl came up to her and said "I was going to pick out that book." Since Kennedy picked it out first I told the girl that maybe she could get it next time. Kennedy just kept giving me a "what the" kind of look as it all went down. As we walked to our car she turned to me and said "So that whole book situation was a bit dramatic don't ya think?" I could not stop laughing.

Halloween Books

I read about a cute tradition on a blog recently that I thought I would share, we are going to try it out tonight. The basic idea is reading Halloween books by candlelight or by a fire. I have been reading a lot of Halloween books to my girls this year and we have checked out every book on witches, pumpkins, ghosts, monsters etc. So I put together a list of books we love or books that have been suggested to us. Hope you enjoy them and maybe try reading them by candlelight too?

Fieldtrips and Fall Fun

Kennedy had her first field trip at her new preschool last week. The whole family got to go and it was a lot of fun. It was at Nick's Nursery in Aurora and it was really cute, if you live in the area you should check out the fun stuff they have right now. They had some bounce houses for the kids and a cute area where you picked out a pumpkin and then got to wash it in these adorable little tubs.
Kennedy is actually going to be Alice in Wonderland for Halloween but since Sophie was dressed up as a princess Kennedy also had to dress up as one. Sophie is in between sizes for the two Halloween costumes we have for her (Ken's old bunny and her snow white dress) so we're not sure what she is going to be.

We got to go on a hay ride through the nursery and they even made a little tunnel that was haunted and bumpy...so cute!
There was a small area for kids to play in the corn kernels like a sandbox, Sophie loved it!
Here Kennedy is in one of the many pop ups that you could have your picture taken with.
We had fun playing the little carnival games with bean bags.
They have a sweet maze for the little kids, Kennedy and Sophie kept hitting a dead end and running into each other, they giggled the whole time.
We have made a lot of fun Halloween treats and crafts, here are the cupcakes we made that the girls (Kennedy and her friend Lindsey) decorated.
Once the girls were done with the sprinkles and decor the cupcakes were pretty inedible but they had a lot of fun.

Kennedy has planned out the next four years of Halloween costumes, here is the rundown; this year- Alice in Wonderland, next year- ice skater, third year- some kind of girl super hero, fourth year-vampire (but a cute one in pink not black).

Nursery is AWESOME!

Sophie started nursery today and let me just tell you- church was so WONDERFUL! She was out of control during sacrament but that is pretty standard. I tried to stay in there so I could hear Kennedy give her part in the primary program and it was a struggle, Sophie was literally in my arms kicking and screaming. Kennedy did a great job and was very reverent, now only if we could get her to do that when she sits by us. Sophie did great in nursery although I think she is the only one in her class that doesn't say a word. When I sat her down to the table to do a little puzzle that the rest of the kids were doing she just looked at it and then threw a few pieces...she is not quite where Kennedy was when she went into nursery...she was speaking in full sentences and doing long division (just kidding).

Halloween Fun!

We were feeling quite festive this week and since Mike went to Grand Junction to mountain bike we had to keep ourselves busy so mom wouldn't poke her eye out. We decided to paint pumpkins instead of carving them, they turned out pretty cute and we had a lot of fun.
We painted our nails orange and the kids wore their halloween jammies.
Here is Ken painting her little pumpkin and giving it the "finishing touches"- her words. Sophie was more interested in eating the paintbrush but she did try to paint a bit and was really excited to finally be included in our crafts.

She was so darn proud and excited to be a big girl.
