Counting down...

As of this Thursday (4/4/08) we will have four more weeks left until our baby is due. We are having a girl (for those of you who don't know) and we are most likely naming her Sophie Blake Voorhies. She is quite a mover and a shaker in my belly and I can't wait to meet the little thing. We are taking bets on whether or not it will be another redhead or if we will have the complete opposite with brown hair and brown eyes. Either way we are pretty dang excited for her to come! This is her little bassinet, all ready to go.

Party

Kennedy's Birthday Party was a lot of fun. The forecast called for 80 degree weather but it was cold and rainy so all my outdoor/waterballoon activities and horse shoes were squelched but we improvised and made do. The kids colored pony pictures while we waited for everyone to come and then we started with "Pin the Sun on Sunny Days". The kids loved it so much they all wanted a second turn.

We then moved into Kennedy's room to play "Horse, Horse, Pony" my last minute spin on duck duck goose. They loved the cowboy hat and didn't quite grasp the concept of chasing eachother but they laughed regardless.

We moved on to play in their My Little Pony look and find books that were part of their gift bag and they loved finding the hidden pictures. The kids all sang to Ken and she blew out her big #3 candle. The kids plowed through the cake while watching a My Little Pony cartoon about Pinkie Pies birthday party, even the little boys were mesmerized. When Ken started opening presents that was when the tears started to flow. Three year olds didn't grasp that the present they brought was actually for Kennedy and not for them. Oh the drama that caused.

Like any other get together with girls, they all ended up in her room playing dress up. Ken was a bit miffed that people were wearing her "fancy" clothes and shoes but she got over it. The boys struggled to find something that they could play with but soon found a bat and some balls and were pretty happy with that. The girls just ignored them.

The big winner of the presents was from Kate, the make-up kit. Ken asked for it the minute the kids left and spent a good 45 minutes in her room putting it on. What a little girl she is!
I have to say I am so glad the birthday hoopla is over! Kennedy has had a little too much spoilage for a year or so. Anything else that shows up in the mail will have to be for when little sister shows up and Kennedy is feeling especially dejected and ingored! This only child is in for a rude awakening. Just so I don't forget, her birthday party guests were Madi Hooley, Kate Markham, Dallas Walker (his cousin Aubrin) and Mark Christofferson. Her friends London and Ella were
out of town.

Three Years Old

We had such a busy day today! Kennedy turned three, where has the time gone. We woke up early and showed her the new VW Bug. She noted that it wasn't exactly like Syds because Sydney has a Jeep but she did tell us that she liked it and thanked us again and again. She even got to drive it around the apartment. She also got a bunch of little Mariposa dolls and Jasmine and Ariel dress up dolls. She got some books from Kelly, Kristen and Hannah in the mail which she loved. We practiced her driving in our apartment parking lot and ran some errands to the mailbox and the office so she could practice turning etc. Then we went for a drive (me driving theh pilot) to run errands and pick up a baby gym. Kennedy said she even saved a spot in her Bug for baby Sophie. We went to the mall, came home and she got to swim for about an hour and then we headed to ballet. Ken brought doughnuts for her class and they practiced their butterfly dance for the recital. Then we came home and her dad built her a fort in her room. I was hoping to get in a nice warm relaxing bath and the next thing I know a little redhead comes in buck naked and says "hey mom, I'm gettin in". She is now sleeping soundly after such a busy day.

Kennedy thought her new VW Bug was "totally cool". She couldn't wait to drive it somewhere other than our tiny aparment. I can't believe she is three.

Kennedy and Michael at the beach in Corpus Christi. She loved playing in the water and splashing around with her dad.The Fort Worth Zoo. Kennedy loves her handsome prince.
Kennedy and her great freind Kate. They are two peas in a pod, both love to dress up, be fancy and wear shoes that tap. They are a match made in heaven.

The Farris Family. Lacey, Justin and baby Holden. Justin goes to school with Mike and they are going to Colorado with us in August.
Kennedy and Mom swimming at the Motel 6, our temporary home for a while as we waited for our apartment to be ready. We lived in the pool that hot and humid summer.
Fort Worth Zoo, checking out the Giraffes.
Tyler and London Burquist with Kennedy. Two of her first friends in Texas.
Kennedy surveying her collection of sea shells in Corpus Christi.
Some of the girls in her ballet class. Most of the girls have dark hair except for Kennedy and Katie who have the exact same color of red hair. We love her dance class and her teacher Miss Ronda.
Playgroup Halloween Party. Kennedy was obsessed with everyone else's fancy shoes for their costumes. We played games and decorated cupcakes. She is here with Kate and Madi.

Sydney's visit to Texas was a huge highlight for Ken. She absolutely idolizes Syd.
Dallas Cowboys stadium. We took a tour while my mom, dad and syd were in town.
The Texas Longhorn cattle drive.
Ken's pumpkin angel.

Ken and Dad handing out candy at the ward trunk or treat.
Trying to pet the dolphins in Sea World.
Ken and I on the River Walk boat ride.
Our little pilgrim girl.

Uncle Ben and Aunt Leah just visited us for a little less than a week. We had a great time with them. We took them to the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth to feed the fish. We drove to San Antonio and went to the Alamo, Sea World and the River Walk. Kennedy had a great time and was such a little angel until the drive home. I had swollen ankles and fat hobbit feet after walking around Sea World and driving home. Kennedy took every chance she could to dance for Ben and her daddy, she was in heaven! It was so fun to have them in town and to see family. They brought with them gifts for Ken from home so we had a mini birthday party and she enjoyed opening gifts and the constant attention she got all week.

Kennedy got a ballerina bunny in her basket and a my little pony and princess mini dress up dolls. Grandma Colleen sent Kennedy her very own Easter Egg Hunt and she did it in her room. She got a lot of little prizes from the hunt including books, Little Pet Shop and a little ABC Bingo game. She told me that night that Easter was her favorite day. I have been reading books to her and explaining the reason we celebrate Easter and so she often tells people it is about Gods son.

Kennedy's Easter Dress. She looked so adorable and so grown up, she kept curtsiing in every relective surface at church. What a little princess.

St. Patricks

Kennedy had a fun little hunt around our house finding four leaf clovers that a "leprechaun" left for her with clues to find the pot o' gold. She was so excited and finally found a pot of gold chocolate coins. She wanted to hide the clovers again and again.
